What makes Canyon Heroes unique?

We serve veterans by providing an adventure therapy experience--hiking and rafting the Colorado River to help heal the psychological wounds of war. Trip participants are supported on their journeys by professional counselors with experience with the military community. Adaptive outdoor recreation, combined with professional counseling, can help veterans adjust, decompress and shed the complex responses that are related to everyday events.

Who can sign up to participate?

Any United States Military Veteran diagnosed or under treatment for a service-connected psychological condition

How Much Does It Cost?

Canyon Heroes is able to provide each veteran with transportation, lodging and rafting trip expenses. Each veteran is asked to pay a small amount for trip insurance which includes cancellation for medical reasons and helicopter emergency evacuation from the Canyon.

 

How do I apply? 
By writing a letter of interest addressed to

Canyon Heroes, P.O. Box 404, Ligonier, PA 15658-0404 with a brief personal description of yourself. You may also email us infocanyonheroes@gmail.com and complete the application.

What is required for an application?
Canyon Heroes will require each applicant to submit a referral from his or her current physician or therapist with an application form that will be provided by Canyon Heroes. Interviews will be conducted either in person or by telephone.
